I’ve created this personal blog to share investment ideas and my opinions. My goal is to discuss them and, hopefully, contribute to increasing financial knowledge and literacy.
I hold a BSc in Economics, an MSc in Finance, and an MBA. Not that it matters a lot for investing, but some things do help. Accounting does help, as do other finance-related topics. However, most of what truly matters isn’t learned in school. Times have changed now; information is widely available, and I certainly wouldn’t spend as much time there.
I’ve lived in different countries, from East Timor to Morocco, and I currently split my time between Morocco and Portugal when I’m not traveling ( I’ve traveled over 40 countries). I’m fluent in Portuguese, English, and ok in French.
Aside from making money, meaning – achieving freedom, I love cycling (which is evident from the logo) and a variety of sports. So, I intend to share the adventures I undertake. I’ve completed several extreme endurance multi-stage MTB races around the world, road races, running races, as well as Ironman 70.3 events.
I had the idea of creating a blog a long time ago. I still have the first posts and texts I wrote. At the time, the goal was to discuss achieving financial independence (which is a lengthy discussion in itself) and talk about personal finance. Fast forward, with my current lifestyle, I’ve more than achieved it. I don’t want to be extremely frugal and save a few cents on a coffee; I do like nice things, bought in a smart way. But it’s essential to always remember some stoic thoughts without taking them to the extreme:
“Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few desires.” and “Poor is not the one who has little, but the one who desires much.”
Seneca
Because someone always has more than us.
Money is freedom; it’s nice to be able to do what you want when you want and say what you think. That is freedom. Trendy FIRE is not my goal; in my mid-thirties, I don’t intend to retire.
I’ve made money through working, real estate, equities, bonds, etc. In between, there have been more or less successful entrepreneurial adventures that I’m likely to continue.
I own a few apartments and offices as rental properties and an equity portfolio that comprises my “passive” investments, along with part-time work.
Feel free to contact me to discuss any ideas.
